MAP 1:

MAP 2:

This map gives a general geographical overview of where Iceland is relative to other countries around it. It is right between Europe and North America, but as the map displays, not far from either of them. It is part of the Nordic countries, which also include Denmark, Finland, Sweden, and Norway. This map, which was created by Inspired By Iceland, serves the purpose of showing where Iceland is in the world, but also shows just how accessible it is to other countries (particularly ones with potential tourists).

MAP 3:

This map highlights some of the different tourist attractions that Iceland has to offer. Tourism is a very important part of Iceland's economy - tourism’s share of foreign exchange earnings has grown from 26.4% to 42.0% between 2013-2017 (see chart below). The map, created by Guide to Iceland, has one downside for tourists - it is written in Icelandic.

MAP 4:

This is a population density map of Iceland. Following the key, one can see that the large majority of the country's population resides in the capital city, Reykjavik.  The area is home to about 118,000 people, and give that the total population is about 332,000, that means that more than half the population lives in the capital region. Iceland is the least densely populated country in Europe and almost 80% of the country is uninhabited.

MAP 5:

This map shows the locations of existing power plants, planned power plants (as of 2008), and potential projects for power plants in Iceland. Iceland's geography, which includes lots of volcanoes and hot springs, creates a lot of renewable energy - from both both hydro- and geothermal resources. In fact, 85% of Iceland's primary energy needs are being met with these renewable resources.
